The book explores traditional UAE women’s dress as it evolved through several stages of change from 1966 – 2004. The first of its kind, the book examines regional and political influences on UAE dress by interviewing & recording many of the regions prominent female figures.
Sultani details the actuality of dressmaking in its entirety by delving into the historical nuances that evolved to what we now see UAE woman dressing in at present. Sultani, includes the publication of part of the author’s UAE traditional dress collection.
This museum quality collection is composed of over 170 articles of dress that date between 1968 & the present.
Furthermore, Sultani is as unique in content as it is in illustration. Where three renowned artists: Hayv Kahraman, Fatima Lootah & Mohammed Mandi contributed to make each page a visual masterpiece.
